NASS Passes 2019 Budget - Gistonlinesng

The amount is N90 billion Naira more than what President Muhammadu Buhari presented to the lawmakers in December 2018.

The extra allocation, according to the lawmakers will be for miscellaneous expenses, including the severance packages of the lawmakers and their aides.
The 2019 budget is however still high on the deficit as the government plans to borrow about two trillion Naira to fund infrastructure development.
The approved budget is N90 billion Naira higher that the N8.8 billion Naira presented last December by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The addition according to the lawmakers is to cover the cost of some miscellaneous expenses including the sum of N23 billion Naira for the severance fee of lawmakers and their aides.
The remaining balance of N67 billion Naira was added to the statutory allocation of various security agencies to enable them to overcome their funding challenges.
shows that capital expenditure is N2.094 trillion Naira, relatively low compared to recurrent spending of N4.65 trillion Naira.
A further breakdown shows that the Ministry of Interior takes a lion share of N617.9 billion Naira, followed by the Ministry of Defence with N589.9 billion Naira. 
Ministry of Education comes 3rd in the sharing order with N522 billion Naira.
